Fallout 4 Wolverine Build

One of the most time-consuming but amazing projects you can undertake in a Fallout 4 settlement (aside from building a sky-scraping palace or repairing the walls of The Castle) is building a huge animated billboard. Redditor /u/RFarmer has inspired a revolution with their guide to big, immersion-breaking billboards like this one . Here’s how to do it:

A place for any and all discussion about Fallout 4. Fallout 4 Build - James Howlett/Logan/Wolverine. Thanks to rank 2 of awareness being useful for any build I. One of the coolest Fallout 4 settlements ever made, GPG Shepard has recreated the flavour of Bioshock Infinite’s floating city of Columbia.

Set up an 18x8 grid of Light Boxes just to start off with. Each light box requires 1 Power, which is annoying, but there you have it. You’ll want at least 50 Power, which requires 5 large generators.

On top of the billboard, place more generators as needed. You can wire all of your power sources together so that they form one big power bank, though you won’t want to wire everything together willy-nilly.

Plan out the animation you want, in three parts: which parts will always be on, which parts are only on during the first frame, and which parts are only on during the second frame? (Any more than two frames may be much more complex. If you don’t want to animate it at all, it’s a lot simpler.)

The parts that are always on can be powered by one power source (create your own power bank for this part). That generator bank will link to a terminal, which will link to the lightboxes that will always be on.

The difficult part is setting up the parts that turn on and off with each frame. For the first frame, set up a new generator bank, then link it to a different terminal, which will link to the time interval switches, which will link to the light boxes that will be on for that frame.

For the second frame, do this process but only for the boxes that will remain on for that second frame.

As you can see, all three types of light boxes will have their own power sources. Set the interval time to On for 1s and Off for 1s for each of the 2 frames.

Because there’s no way to tell the lights “turn on when the other lights turn off,” you’ll need to cut the power on one frame, then reattach it and check the animation. Should people stop procrastinating. If the animation’s off, cut the power then reattach again and see if the animation looks right. Rinse and repeat.

Here’s a link to a video that explains the whole concept in more depth:

Why separate generator banks for the three different animation stages? So that the terminals don’t consolidate the input data as they would otherwise do, creating frames that simply sync up rather than animating properly.

Here’s some of the really cool billboards players have managed to construct using this trick (along with some other cheats, like giving themselves unlimited materials, etc):

Got any more awesome billboards to share? Let us know and we'll add to the post. Til then, happy building!

Introduction:

It's finally possible, and very viable, the radiation build, also known as the Child of Atom build. This build mainly focuses on harnessing the power of radiation, through several perks and specific armor pieces. The build primarily excels in leveling up quickly, surviving with low max health, and dishing out ridiculous amounts of melee damage. While you can play a radiation build focusing on rifles, this version focuses on melee, which may sound bad at first but once you learn what the Rad Powered armor effect does you will see what i'm getting at.

This type of character is challenging, fun, and unique. It will force you to make choices you would normally not take, and it excels in places like the Glowing Sea, making it the perfect end-game character.

This guide may contain some Far Harbor spoilers, so if you haven't played that, be careful!

Fallout

Special:

Your special stats will be mainly intelligence and endurance, as these have the most perks that have to do with being irradiated, as well as protecting yourself while being on low health.

This was my starting special distribution, but you can change it up a bit of course.

P: 1

Fallout 4 Wolverine Healing Mod

A: 1

L: 1

The strength is not very high, but you will be boosting that through your equipment later, to the point where the base strength doesn't really matter anymore.

Before picking up the You're Special book in Sanctuary, i suggest buying an intelligence lowering beverage so you can increase your base intelligence to 11. This is optional, but having high intelligence on low level will definitely help you level through the early parts of the game, which can be challenging with a build like this. Try to get the intelligence bobble head as early as possible to raise your base intelligence to 12. It can be found in the Boston Public Library close to Diamond City, and can be acquired without too much trouble. A better guide on this can be found below, in the early game plan section.

You could also go for luck instead of strength to get the Idiot Savant perk, which would still be useful at this intelligence, but i'm personally not a big fan of the perk.

Perks:

You can mix and match with this a bit, but there's definitely some perks that you will really need. I suggest keeping this open in a tab for reference on the perks: http://www.levelbased.com/guides/fallout-4/tools/special

Perks i recommend:

  • Lifegiver / Toughness / Rad Resistant: The player will be at very high rads, reducing their max health. This pretty much forces you to take every single protective perk. You will probably need the Lone Wander feat at some point, but you will want to get some companion perks first. Rad resistant is just to stop radiation from getting out of control, which can still happen rather quickly.

  • Ghoulish: Arguably, this used to be the very worst perk, but now with the addition of far harbor where it's always slightly irradiated, a passive heal is really not bad. Also, the moment where a ghoul becomes your friend is a really neat experience.

  • Adamantium Skeleton: You might think this is useless, but it really isn't. You will be healing automatically through ghoulish and lifegiver, and considering your tiny health bar, you will probably not be using stimpacks at all. This means that you won't be healing your limbs, hence this perk.

  • Armorer: You will need this mostly for ballistic weave, but upgrading your other armor is definitely useful. Explosive protection mods are really great, as they can kill you in one hit.

  • Big Leagues / Blacksmith: Kind of obvious, right?

  • Chemist / Chem Resistant: I'm not much of a chem user, but i can imagine this would be quite useful in certain situations. Obviously (berry) mentats are quite useful for even more experience, which you are trying to max out.

  • Nerd Rage: This is really the only build where i can see this being useful. You will be at low health a lot, and having this as sort of a warning / fail safe is really good, it also synergises with some companion perks i will recommend.

  • Nuclear Physicist: This is for when you want to go full radiation. I would only suggest this if you really like Atom's Judgement, or if you find an irradiated machete that you can tip with Khremv's Tooth. Radiation damage is a bit situational, because it will heal certain creatures. Don't take this for the power armor utility, because you will be needing the bonuses from your regular armor at all times.

  • Other perks are up to you, there's plenty of room for customization! Lone Wanderer and Night Person are great additions you won't be able to pick from the beginning.

What NOT to get:

  • Solar powered rank 2: Rank 1 is fairly useful, but rank 2 will heal your radiation poisoning over time. This of course goes against the very build you are going for.

Companion Perks:

Getting these perks can take a lot of time, and the companions will probably not like some of the choices you're going to make in Far Harbor.

For detailed information on the perks, visit this page: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4_companions

  • Hancock: Isodoped. This perk is obviously useful. A low luck character can always use a bit of extra critical meter.

  • Cait: Trigger Rush. Synergises perfectly with Nerd Rage.

  • Strong: Berserk. Again, this synergises perfectly with Nerd Rage.

  • Curie: Combat Medic. This is the ultimate fail safe, if you manage to nearly die in your Nerd Rage you will still survive.

Any other companion perk will be great to have, but these are most important.

Special Perks:

  • Magazines: Just grab them all, but especially look out for Grognak and Live and Love.

  • Crusader of Atom: Rewarded after destroying Far Harbor by following the Children of Atom, this is a supreme perk. It increases your damage output the higher your rads. I'm not exactly sure how much this is, but it's really good.

  • Destroyer of Acadia: Rewarded after destroying Acadia by following Allen Lee, this is also a great perk that synargises with the rest of your build. It increases your damage output the lower your health.

Follow this guide to be sure you're able to get both these perks, as doing some things in the wrong order might lock you out of getting both: https://www.vg247.com/2016/05/20/fallout-4-far-harbor-dlc-how-to-get-the-best-ending/

Equipment:

I will be listing your end-game gear here, what you decide to wear before this is really up to you.

  • Any armor with the Rad Powered prefix: Now this is the main reason why you should go for a melee build. Any piece of armor with the Rad Powered effect on it raises your strength the more rads you have. I've tested this and at about 80% rads i had +6 on strength from just one armor piece. As you can imagine, this is absolutely ridiculous. If you have this effect on both legs and arms, that would give you a +24 on strength, holy shit!

  • Inquisitor's Cowl: Considering you will be at very high radiation at most times, this will grant an extra +4 intelligence. Which equates to a +12% passive experience boost.

  • Ballistic weaved clothing: This is pretty crucial. You'll have very low max hp and must mostly survive through armor.

  • Atom's Bulwark: Again, this is really needed for the extra armor. You could argue that another piece of Rad Powered, or maybe even a Sentinel's piece would be better, but this just really fits the radiation theme.

  • Pickman's Blade / The Harvester: With such a ridiculous damage output, all you will need is a really quick weapon, because getting a slow, high hitting weapon is just crazy overkill.

Early game plan:

The hardest part of this character is the early game, so i wrote down what i did to survive. You don't have to follow this, but it's what worked for me.

  • When you get out of the vault, the first thing you want to do is get yourself a beer to temporarily decrease your intelligence so you can use the You're Special book on intelligence, and raise it to 11. There's a basement door behind one of the houses in Sanctuary where you can find a few beers along with some decent loot.

  • Now that you have 11 intelligence, follow the road you would normally take towards diamond city, ignoring Preston Garvey for now. Eventually you will come across a destroyed building with a few radroaches, if you're lucky one of them will be legendary. Clear the building and climb up to the second floor and pick up the Ushanka Hat. On your way back you can unlock the drumlin diner to maybe get some eyeglasses for more intelligence, but she might not sell them.Trashcan Carla might have them too. You can find eyeglasses on the overseer's desk in vault 111, thank you /u/BobandDoug!

  • Now that you have 12 or 13 intelligence, it's time to get some quick experience by scrapping and building in sanctuary. If you don't like to do this, just do Preston Garvey's stuff, or head straight to Diamond City. Getting those early levels in will be really useful though, because the next steps are going to be a bit dangerous.

  • Once you've reached Diamond City, buy yourself some charisma clothing from the clothing store, and have a nap at the Bobrov brothers. You will now want to get the Intelligence Bobblehead. It's in the Boston Public Library, conveniently close to Diamond City. Go to the front door, put on your charisma clothing, and talk to the intercom. You must pass an easy charisma check to convince them that you are an employee. I you pass you may enter, and all the robots will be friendly. This is very important because they will clear some super mutants for you, which are quite dangerous at this level. I'm pretty sure to find the bobblehead you just go through the door to the left, go across the room, and go into a sort of laboratory. When you grab the bobblehead the place will be assaulted by super mutants. Just wait for the robots to take them out.

  • Great! You now have the maximum base intelligence of 12, including some intelligence boosting gear!

  • Another thing you should probably get is the Live And Love #8 magazine which gives you an extra 5% experience bonus when traveling with a companion. That's almost worth 2 more intelligence points! You can find it in the Rexford Hotel in Goodneighbour, where you will go eventually anyway.

  • There's one early game thing i will suggest, and that is getting Grognak's Axe, and maybe the costume if you're daring enough to fight a glowing one so early on. If you decide to take lockpicking you can skip this and go to Hubris Comics directly. Else, go to the combat zone and clear it out, this might be a little challenging but with the right tactic it should be no problem. When you unlock Cait, take her to Hubris Comics where you will find a display case with Grognak's Axe behind the counter. Give Cait some bobby pins and let her unlock the case for you.

  • Congratulations! You now have some superb intelligence and a decent weapon. You can now start your adventure in relative ease. Your next step should probably be joining the Railroad to unlock ballistic weave.

Best Survival Build Fallout 4

The rest is up to you, just make sure to join the Children of Atom once you reach Far Harbor.

Thanks for your time, and have fun!
