A Dragon Priest Mask is a unique piece of headgear and can be obtained after defeating each of the nine unique Dragon Priests that appear in various locations throughout Skyrim. Each mask is unique in color and varies in smithing material. Each mask is named after their respective master and has unique effects; they are defined as either Light or Heavy Armor.
All dragon priest masks require the Arcane Blacksmith perk to upgrade.
As the majority of the Priests are found near Word Walls, they can be easily located by talking to Arngeir, in High Hrothgar, about finding words of power and receiving quests to discover most word walls.

Trivia
- According to character artist Jonah Lobe in an AMA thread, the decision to give masks to the Dragon Priests were inspired by Vivec's Ashmask in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.[source?]
- In the aforementioned thread, Lobe also states that the design of the masks themselves was inspired by a Nigerian mask gifted by a family friend.[source?]
- Each mask seems to be made of a different metallic or stone material. This is supported by the fact that the mesh and texture files are referred to by material rather than by which Dragon Priest it belongs to.
- Hevnoraak is Iron
- Krosis is Bronze
- Morokei is Moonstone
- Nahkriin is Ebony
- Otar is Marble
- Rahgot is Orichalcum (referred to as 'orichalum')
- Vokun is Steel
- Volsung is Corundum (referred to as 'corondrum')
- In addition to Dragon Priest masks having powerful enchantments, it should also be noted that certain masks have the highest armor rating of any headgear available.
- For Light Armor, Krosis and Volsung have the highest base armor.
- For Heavy Armor, Konahrik has the highest base armor.
- Upon retrieving a mask placed on the shrine, all smithing enhancements will be removed from the mask. This is likely because a new copy of the mask is added to the inventory upon retrieval.

Resurrecting the Dragon Priest Masks
Long ago, there was a group of powerful Nordic mages that worshiped and served the dragons.
These Dragon Priests were highly skilled, and because of their dedicated service to the dragons of long ago, they were given special masks that signified their powerful positions as the dragons’ personal retainers.
The Dragon Priests died out long ago, but they have been resurrected within their tombs just as the dragons have, and they are all in crypts scattered across Skyrim.
There are eight Dragon Priests with eight named masks, one wooden mask at Labyrinthian, and one special mask you receive after collecting all nine and traveling to the Bromjunaar Sanctuary.
When you collect the eight named masks and put on the wooden mask at the altar at Labyrinthian, place all eight masks on their respective dragon statues and the last mask will be revealed.
After the revelation, you can take whichever masks you want off of the statues and continue to use them if you wish.
Here is an alphabetical list of each dragon mask with the name of the location where the corresponding Dragon Priest is found.
