- Acting for Two: Tony Rosato provided the voices of Dario Russo and Nemesis.
- California Doubling: Most fans will notice that the streets of Raccoon City are barely wide enough for a single car in many places and the layout is fairly wonky even for a Resident Evil game. It makes a lot more sense when you realize that the city's layout was most likely modeled after the layout of Japanese cities as opposed to American ones, American features notwithstanding.
- Development Gag: This game brought back the 'fat cop' model of zombie, after they were featured in early previews but ultimately cut from Resident Evil 2.
- Jossed: Resident Evil 3 contradicted many plot elements that were present in other media tie-ins such as the S.D. Perry novels and the Biohazard 2 audio dramas that were produced by Flagship (the same company that wrote Resident Evil 2). Particularly, the cause of Raccoon City's destruction was changed from a fire that spread across the entire town to a nuclear missile launched by the U.S. government.
- Urban Legend of Zelda: There used to be a persistent fan rumor that Nemesis was secretly one of the series' pre-existing characters who was captured and mutated by Umbrella.note They ultimately ended up using this angle with his character in the movies.
- What Could Have Been: Resident Evil 3 was originally supposed to be a gaiden game, developed alongside the N64 version of Resident Evil 0, Code: Veronica on the Sega Dreamcast, and Hideki Kamiya's Biohazard 3 (the cruise ship idea that was recycled into Resident Evil: Dead Aim). The planned Biohazard 3 would have taken too long to develop before the PlayStation 2 launched and sales would have been low because of it, so it was scrapped in favor of making new game on the upcoming console (which also ended up getting scrapped) and the gaiden game was promoted to the next mainline series title.

YouTube’s ‘unknownexe96’ has shared a video, showing a WIP scene from Resident Evil 3 being recreated in Unreal Engine 4. Now while this project is still a Work In Progress, unknownexe96 appears to be willing to release the map to the public once it’s been finished.
Unknownexe96 aims to remake Dario Rosso’s Shelter in 3D. Players will be able to explore it via fixed camera angles, thus giving everyone an idea of what a faithful remake – with fixed camera angles – of Resident Evil 3 could look like. Starkiller vs darth vader.
There are also plans to bring Jill Valentine to this fan proof of concept Resident Evil 3 Remake, though nothing is set on stone yet. However, and as with most fan remakes, we strongly suggest tempering your expectations. In short, this won’t be a remake of the full game and we are not even sure whether the artist will be able to complete and release it to the public.
Still, this map is really close to the real deal and since it has a lot of potential, we’ve decided to share it with you. We’ve also embedded below a video from the original game in order to give you an idea of how close to the original material this fan remake will actually be.
Rumour has it that after the remake for Resident Evil 2, Capcom may remake in RE Engine Resident Evil 3. Nothing has been confirmed yet but it will be interesting to see what Capcom can achieve and whether a RE3Remake will be as amazing as RE2Remake.
